My internet was sitting at 5 mbps with insane ping and packet loss just now, and out of curiousity, I went to run an Ookla speed test. I have constant logs of MIT's neutral speedtest(Found here: ), to prove it. I have logs of endless packet loss to prove it. I'm using the internet full time, so I know it's constantly unusable. Any time there is a tech here to see if it's something in the apartment, they ask to run a speedtest. Now for the "Speedtest" part of this post. Me: "Okay, when will this be fixed?" They refuse to actually tell me when I'll have normal internet, so I'm basically paying for unusable internet for months now and they have zero incentive to actually do anything about it. Then of course, 36 hours later, things are even worse. Long cat/mouse game with the tech support where they schedule an appointment, then cancel it with a call from the local dispatcher saying "They're working on an issue outside for x hours(last time it was 36). Insane packet loss, crazy ping spikes, speeds that wildly jump from 5 to 180(never at the 200 down I pay for).
